Many people ask in all seriousness what kind of supplements they should
be taking to speed up their fat loss. They will sincerely ask such
questions as "What is the best fat burner I can take to speed up my fat
loss?" Or "What do you think of this super muscle bulker powder to add
muscle to my biceps?"
They might ask these questions to the guy behind the counter at the GNC
or fall victim to the slick marketing that the fat loss pill industry
puts out everywhere. Americans spend over 30 billion dollars a year for
"diet pills", "fat burners" and other "miracle supplements" every year
yet we still get fatter and more diseased every year.
Let’s face it: these "supplements" cater to the lazy side of human
nature. The pharmaceutical and weight loss pill pushers know this and
get rich off of our inertia and "instant fix" mentality. Don’t bother
with any of them! They are a complete waste of time and money. You do
not need them. Food, especially nutrient dense unprocessed food is a
much more powerful "weight loss supplement" and "fat burner" than any
pill or powder that comes out of a factory.
Let’s take a lesson from nature. Look at any animal in its natural
state and environment. He will eat the living food he is adapted to eat
exactly as offered up by nature. Have you ever seen an obese wild
animal? He enjoys superb health at his ideal weight and he never
bothers with all of our ridiculous pills and potions.
Some people may lose a few quick pounds with these supplements but
frequently they lose lean muscle mass and so lower their metabolism.
They will then gain back all their lost weight plus more. Then on to
the search for the next magic pill. Frequently a person can really
wreck their metabolism with these supplements and go on this back and
forth "yo-yo" dance between losing a few pounds and then rebounding
back with all the fat and weight they lost.
You can stop the insanity and REALLY lose that body fat and get healthy
by following these simple, basic rules:
Make your health a priority in your life. Consider what you eat, drink
or otherwise put into your body-is it going to help you reach your
weight and fitness goals? Will it help or hurt your health?
Start getting more of your calories form fresh, natural unprocessed
foods. Try to eat more raw foods. For example, instead of chips and a
soda for a snack try eating some raw pecans and drinking water. Instead
of a candy bar try a few dried figs or dates. We humans naturally have
a sweet tooth but nature has given us many delicious alternatives to
our deadly, sugary junk.
Exercise daily. You don’t have to have an hour long intense workout. If
you can’t do your regular workout at least take the dog for a walk or
ride your bike for a while. Do it at first because you know you should
and later you will do it because you want to.
Drink plenty of fresh, clean water. Drink a glass of water when you get
up in the morning and you can cut down on your coffee and tea
consumption.
Try to get 6-8 hours of sleep a night. Sleep deprivation can cause the
body to store more fat.
If you watch your diet and step up your exercise routine your body will
respond and begin to tone up and you will be rewarded ten fold.
Miracle "diet pills", supplements or fad diets don’t ever bring lasting
results. The ONLY thing that will work is making long term healthy
lifestyle changes.
